She’s rocking the piggy tails

Ever since she stayed over at her grandmother’s house and MIL put piggy tails on her for school last Friday, the Kiddo has been all about the piggy tails.  Every single day.  So now to our morning routine we’ve added putting her hair up in piggy tails before we head off to take her to school.

Off to Grandma’s House

Well, the Kiddo is going to her grandmother’s house tonight after preschool.   Originally it was just to be babysat for a couple of hours while my husband and I went to a Christmas show, but I guess his mom has a party to go to this weekend on the Kiddo’s normal overnight day, so tonight is morphing into her overnight stay instead.

I’m kind of bummed a little that it’s happening on a night we already had plans for and we won’t also get our weekend night without the Kiddo, but oh well.  It does mean we’ll probably get to sleep an extra ten minutes tomorrow morning before getting up to get ready for work. Whee.

Found: My Sweet Toddler

Man last week was rough. I hope she doesn’t sprain another limb for a LONG time.  It took three days before we could remove the shirt she was wearing the day she got hurt, and another day after that to convince her a warm bath would help her arm.  Then Friday, she suddenly realized her arm did not hurt as much as she thought and she turned into a holy terror. Pink pink pink!

The girl likes pink.  So in honor of her favorite color, it is Christmas in Pink!

I still need to adjust the EC widget, but otherwise I think this one is set.  Oops, need to correct the links in the nav bar, but otherwise I think everything is working OK on this.  I still need to look at the comments though and make sure that looks OK.

If you see anything broken just leave a comment here and let me know.

Sleep, sleep, SLEEP!!

This is driving me crazy.  The Kiddo has yet to take her afternoon nap.  Usually she hits the pillow at around 12-1p.  This week I’ve been letting her have a movie play (usually Tinkerbell) very quietly on the imac while she naps.  Today I put in Cars, so I don’t know if it is partially because of that, or what… but by 4:15 and she STILL had not slept!

I told her at about one pm that if she did not go to sleep, I would take away the computer.  I ended up  having to do that at about 2pm.  She cried and cried for about 15 minutes, screaming for the computer.  NOPE. Not gonna happen.  I went in and told her if she didn’t take a nap, the computer would not be going back in her room later, either.  And it didn’t, because she never napped.  My husband got home at about 5:15 and she still hadn’t slept, so I gave up.

I suppose she is getting close to the age where kids start giving up naps altogether, but I am certainly not ready for that to happen yet.  Since her arm still hurts pretty badly today it looks like we’ll be home again tomorrow… I just hope she at least takes a nap and that today was an anomaly.  Maybe if I decide to let her use the iMac again for movies that I’ll make sure to put Tinkerbell in at naptime since she seems to sleep ok to that one.

What a way to start the week!

Last week it was a tummy bug.  THIS week, not even three hours of being at school, I get a call from her daycare director letting me know that she had fallen or tripped outside on the playground and had hurt her wrist.  At the time the director called it had been about 10 minutes since the incident and she was still very upset and holding her wrist as tight as she could, not letting anyone there look at it.  I asked the director to give it about 10 more minutes and if she still was clinging to her wrist and not any better to give me a call. Germ farms

Yet another reason not to go to places like chuck e cheese……  they’re germ farms.

The Kiddo apparently picked up a bug while there on Sunday, last night she threw up and had a mild fever.  Thankfully she slept thru the night without any further incidents, and she seems to be doing ok today so far *knock on wood*… I just hope she is 100% by tomorrow morning so we can go and have Thanksgiving lunch/dinner at her grandmother’s house.  It would suck to miss it because she is ill.

Right now she’s sitting on her bed watching Tinkerbell on the iMac that I moved into her room for the day.  I figure that having her in her room to watch movies will help her get some rest to get over the bug.  My office is right next door to her room so when she hollers for more juice (generic pedialyte) or crackers I can easily hear her.  And also hear the precursor signs of an impending upchuck…

Originally the plan today was for me to work from home so that I could go to the thanksgiving lunch her preschool was having and that parents had been invited to… but her getting sick changed that, so I ended up staying up late last night to do my telecommute work so that today I could be free to deal with a potential barf fest.  I’m glad she is doing better today, I really hate having to hover with the bucket with a young girl who is only just grasping why mommy has to hold it in front of her when she wants very little to do with said bucket.  When she’s feeling ok she kind of gets the idea of the bucket, but when her tummy starts feeling yucky she wants nothing to do with it and pushes it away.  That’s always fun.  Ha.

Report on the birthday party yesterday

I think she did fairly well yesterday, considering that most of it happened during her normal nap time.

When we first got there, the birthday girl’s family wasn’t there yet so we walked around looking at all the games and rides and such (it was at chuck e cheese), and she kept trying to get on the cars to ride them. I told her they needed coins to work and that we would need to go get some tokens, and she started to FREAK out, I think she thought we were leaving.  She wanted so badly to go get on one of the “rides”, finally I was able to get it through to her that we weren’t leaving, but if she wanted to ride the cars and play the games, we needed to go get some “money”, and that we’d be right back for her to play. Birthday parties

The Kiddo was invited to her first non-family birthday party this weekend.  It’s for one of her classmates in pre-school.  It should be interesting since the time is right about when she would normally go down for a nap if it were a school day, so I plan on letting her stay up a little bit later Saturday night so she’ll wake up later on Sunday and hopefully be just about ready for her nap when we leave the party.

I still have to go shopping and find a gift for her friend.  Her friend’s mom said anything Dora would be fine, her life revolves around Dora right now.  I looked at W@l-M@rt the other day but their selection of Dora stuff was rather pathetic, so I’ll be going to ToysR#s probably sometime tonight or tomorrow to see what they have to offer.

Overdue award thanks

I have not been ignoring the awards that have been left for me.  I’ve just been busy at work, which is usually when I do my blogging, so… Anyway, I’m taking a few minutes to do some thanks for the following rewards:

From Judi @ Where the Road Takes Us, and Emily @ Mama & Hustler???, comes the Butterfly Award:

The way it works: save this image to add to your blog. Then you get to award 5 of your favorite blogs to share in the fun! Remember to link back to my blog and the ones you award. Then leave them a comment to let them know how to retrieve their award!

The next award is from Julie & Jacqueline (see this post for my original thanks and their links) for the “I Love Your Blog” award:

Next are two tags.  First, from Judi @ Where the Road Takes Us:

Ok, I will at least try to participate as much as providing the seven things about me…

  1. I love onion rings, but hate raw onions.
  2. I have a strange fear of pointy/sharp things being anywhere near my eyes.  Even indirectly pointed in my general direction, and I have to close my eyes and turn my head.  It makes knitting socks very tricky. LOL
  3. Ironically, I can put eye drops and, contacts, when I used to wear them – into my eyes with no problems.
  4. I hate spiders (may have mentioned this before), but I don’t mind snakes.  I find them fascinating.
  5. Peanut butter and pickle sandwiches are yummy.  No I did not pick up the taste for them while I was pregnant, I tried it long before that and liked it.
  6. I lose enough hair when I wash it (every other day) that I could probably have enough hair to make a wig for a small doll in less than a month’s time.  I am surprised I am not bald by now. But my hair IS thin.
  7. I sometimes only shower once over the weekend, usually on Sunday.  And yes I still go out in public on Saturday.

And the other tag is an 8 Things tag, from Cinnamon @ My Name is Not Mom :

  1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
  2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
  3. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
  4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog

So here is my list…

  • I forget things easily, so when I go shopping, I always have to have a list. And sometimes I still manage to forget something, even WITH the list.
  • I remember faces before I remember names.  So if someone from way back were to approach me, I would probably recognize their face, but I would most likely not remember their name. How embarassing is that?
  • I used to be pretty good with watercolors in high school.  I haven’t painted in years, though.
  • One of my paintings was selected by one of my state’s Senators to go hang in the halls under the Capitol building for a year.  That painting now hangs on the wall of our living room.
  • I got to go to Washington D.C. with my mom & my art teacher to see my painting, along with several other students from across the country.
  • Repetitive sounds annoy me – think pen clicking, barking dogs, habitual throat clearing.
  • That is why I am glad I can wear headphones at work.
  • The best part of my job is that I rarely, if ever, have to talk to any customers.
  • The worst part is the 1+ hour one-way commute.

Ok, so that was nine things.  You get a freebie!

I am going to be really lame due to how busy I am, and neglect to hand pick other blogs to pass these on to.  Yeah, I know it’s not really in the spririt of having received them, but Ijust don’t have a lot of spare time while I’m at work ya know.  ;)  So if you come across this post, and haven’t received one of these awards already – award it to yourself! :)  I won’t mind – just leave a comment if you do so I know you picked it up from my blog. :wink2:
